Subconscious Diabetes

Super POWERS, not a Super Nova
Last I checked I do not have any super powers. I'm just a slightly-nerdy girl who has Type 1 Diabetes and writes a little blog about it. But last night something strange happened....I guess my hidden super powers kicked in.

I did all the normal stuff. The BF and I had dinner, went to Target for a few necessities, came home, folded some laundry and climbed in bed. My bedtime blood sugar was a steady 151, and I was happy with that. I read a little bit in my grad school book, set it aside

and fell asleep. I know, this is so normal it's boring.

I woke up around 3:30 from the middle of a dream. This isn't that strange, I do it all the time, except the content of the dream was not something "normal" for me. I dreamt that I was testing my blood sugar and when I woke up from the dream I remember the meter's reading from the dream as "342". Holy crap! That's high. I started noticing my mouth was sooooo dry. "Hmm...I wonder if my subconscious is trying to tell me something," I thought. I rolled over, yanked my test kit from the ground and tested. 330 "No way, this is way too weird." Heck, for all I know I actually WAS 342, because 330 is definitely within the +/- 20% meter tolerances.

I ran downstairs to grab some water, corrected for the high number, and crawled back into bed. But the whole occurrence has me so puzzled. Was my body trying to alert me about the high blood sugar via subconscious dream? Am I high like this in the middle of the night often? How much does a Continuous Glucose Monitor cost, dangit?
