Back when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and off at college, my parents were kind enough to get my a medical id.  The id was an 18k gold medallion that hung from my necklace.  It was really nice and I wore it for a long, long time.  So today’s post is very straight forward and asks this simple question:

Has this bracelet been replaced by…..

…This medical ID?

Serious question.  Some people have gotten tattoos that id them as having Diabetes, which is kind of extreme.  I no longer wear my necklace id because I have an insulin pump attached to me 23.75/7 (gotta shower silly).  My guess is that medical ids for those with Diabetes will be like pagers; great for the 90′s, but no longer needed.

What do you think?  Do you wear them or think they are still useful?  Do people on injection therapy even have IDs?
