Long time no post

Sorry for the lack of updates, we had some pretty scary days and some fun stuff as well.  First to the scary part.  Renata had a small heart attack.  She is fine now, and the doctors can’t find the reason for it, but there is no heart disease, low cholesterol and she doesn’t smoke, so they say there was no reason for it at all.  They are at a loss.  Next step is to do pulmonary testing, but as I said before, she if feeling fine now. When we know exactly what is going on with that, we will let you
know. Here are some pictures of Renata in the hospital. The meals were typically pretty good, however the one pictured below left something to be desired.  The flowers were from my work friends, Leon, Steffan, Chris, Suzi, Adi and Hillary.  They are a wonderful bunch of people! The final shot is of Renata’s “luggage” which we threw together before going and seeing her on the first night.

Once Renata got back we went to see the gang that sent the flowers. They had a wonderful chicken roast and we all “brought a plate”  which in Kiwi talk is like a pot-luck dinner.  It was a great time there. First picture is Renata sitting with Chris and Suzi and the next is me with Steffan.

I also spent some time with the kids playing Rock Band, which was loads of fun, here is some shots with me singing Master Exploder by Tenacious D.  Although it looks like I was dancing in the first picture, I assure you I was just putting my leg up on the arm of the chair.

I took some really cool shots out of our living room window of a beautiful sunset. Which is amazing almost every night. Kelsey has some good shots from our other camera which I will try to put up soon. Here are the ones I took.

Finally we had a fun family night out with Diabetes Youth Auckland at the Auckland Zoo.  There were around 500 families there and we pretty much had the zoo to ourselves.  There were several of the park walking areas that were closed off, but some of the animals came out into full view once all the regular crowd cleared out.  Here are some shots from the event and the zoo.

All in all it was a fun time.  The kids got to hang out with other children with Diabetes and we got to hang out with some parents who knew exactly what it was like to have to deal with Diabetes on a daily basis. Coming in March is a camp for families with Diabetes and I think if that is anything like this event, we will have a wonderful time.
