What a fun weekend! Saturday, the JDRF NW Ride Club took a leisurely ride along the Seattle waterfront, through downtown, and by some very famous Seattle locations. We all had Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation bike gear, and we caught a lot of attention when we rode past the market. I'd call it a successful day.

To conclude the weekend festivities for World Diabetes Day, Seattle Multisport, a indoor cycling training center, set up an indoor time trial to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
I have to begin by saying I was
completely terrified of embarrassing myself. When I use my trainer at home, I often am ready to quit after 5 minutes (not saying that I do) because my legs already burn so much. I feel like the exercise burn of cycling is much more intense than that of running- at least for me.
Anyways, I thought it would be a good event for me to test the cycling waters, so to speak. I was hesitant to sign up though because of my fear. I finally committed to doing the time trial on Friday, just two days before the event. Yesterday, an hour before the time trial, I was going to eat a little something for lunch. However, my blood sugar was way way way too high. I managed to rein in my blood sugars just in time for the time trial. When I got to the training facility, we hooked up my bike and did a 30 minute warm up and then the time trial. Tim Becker, one of the owners of Seattle Multisport who was running the event, rode the warm up and the time trial with me as I was the only rider for my time slot. Overall, I think I did better than expected. I definitely didn't go all out on the time trial- I think I was partly distracted with conversation, partly worried about blood sugars, and party worried about making it to the end. I know that I have a tendency to go 100% without thinking about the consequences- such as making it through an event.
Here are the stats if you want to see. I was told that my goal for next time is to get an average power of 200 watts.
