Yesterday, I had an appointment with my endocrinologist. The last time I saw him was just a few days after running the Seattle Rock 'n' Roll Marathon.
Good news (kind of)! My hbA1c (3 month average of blood sugars) is going down. The last time I saw him it was at 7.1, now it is at 6.8. I'm surprised that it is lower, considering I haven't been running, but it's nowhere near the 6.0 I aim for. Time to make some more changes to my daily habits- more finger poking and blood testing.. (FYI- A non-diabetic's hbA1c is usually less than
I went for a 35 minute run yesterday, and planned my route perfectly. I had a one block left to go when I hit the 35 minute mark so I had time to cool down. I noticed that I was turning my right foot kind of funny while running- I tried to focus on keeping it straight, but I don't know what was up. After my run, my foot was feeling kind of sore. I don't know if it was because of the way I was running or the way my shoes made my feet land. For now, I'm going to try and focus on keeping a "normal" running foot strike and rotate through some of my other running shoes. I have a pair of racing flats that could give me some insight into whether it's me or the shoes. Hopefully, the mystery will be solved soon.
