A Day in the Life of my Diabetes - Rest Day

Articles - Diabetes Articles
Monday, 20 December 2010 02:13
Inspired by my friend Hamish Norton I recorded everything I did on Sunday 19 December to see just how much time I spend on my diabetes. Last night was my Diabetes birthday party so I decided to take the day off training.

So here it is:

8.45am:
BG level - 10.4mmol-L
Insulin - 1.75units (correction factor - 1:2.5)

9.05am:
BG level - 7.6mmol-L
CHO - 56grams
Insulin - 8units (CHO factor - 1:7 for breakfast)

10.00am:
Insulin pump site change to right side.

11.00am:
BG level - 4.9mmol-L

11.45am:
BG level - Hypo alert 3.2mmol-L

12.30pm:
BG level - 9.9mmol-L
CHO - 60grams
Insulin - 6 units (CHO factor - 1:10 lunch)

2.30pm:
BG level

- 8.4mmol-L

4.00pm:
BG level - 6.9mmol-L
CHO - 70grams
Insulin - 7 units (CHO factor - 1:10 after 12pm)

5.33pm:
CHO - 80grams
Insulin - 8 units (CHO factor - 1:10 after 12pm)

6.49pm:
BG level - 10.9mmol-L
Insulin - 1.5units (correction factor - 1:2.5)

8.44pm:
BG level - 7.0mmol-L
CHO - 20grams
Insulin - 1unit reduced from 2units (CHO factor - 1:10 after 12pm)

10.00pm:
CHO - 80grams
Insulin - 8unit (CHO factor - 1:10 after 12pm)

10.20pm:
BG level - 9.0mmol-L
OFF TO BED

So today I had 10 blood glucose tests, 8 insulins injections, treated 1 hypo, changed a pump site and counted carbohydrates 7 times. My BG levels ranged from 3.2 to 10.9mmol-L. I injected 41.25units for the carbohydrates I ate. I think my breakfast CHO ratio might be wrong so I will check that again the next time I do this.
